The Chicken Divan Recipe Steps

Chop up your 1/2 pound of broccoli on the cutting board with a small kitchen knife. Wash it in a mesh strainer unless it comes pre-washed.

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F. It should take about the same amount of time to preheat the oven as it will to prep this food.

Fill up a medium saucepan with water, maybe aim for an inch high. It needs to be just high enough to boil the broccoli in. Get the water boiling and once it is, put the broccoli in there. Taste-test the broccoli for this chicken divan recipe after 4-6 minutes boiling, it should be tender.

Drain the broccoli

Dump the broccoli in a mesh strainer to drain it. Once the broccoli is drained, pat it dry with some paper towels. Once it’s dry, dump it into casserole dish.

Measure out 3/4 cup pre-cooked chicken meat and chop up into small pieces on the cutting board. Make sure the board isn’t wet before doing this. Once it’s chopped up, spread the chicken over the top of the broccoli.

Grab a mixing bowl for this chicken divan

Measure out 1 tablespoon of breadcrumbs and throw that in a bowl. Melt a half tablespoon of butter and pour that in with the breadcrumbs.

Mix the cream of mushroom soup and milk together in a second bowl. Pour that mixture over the chicken/broccoli in the dish/pie plate. Measure out a quarter cup of cheddar cheese and spread it on there.

Before putting it in the oven, add the breadcrumb mixture as evenly as you can over the top of the chicken divan. Bake for 15-18 minutes at 450 degrees Fahrenheit until the top is slightly browned.
