Moser Roth 85% dark chocolate is in my back pocket for this review. Wait, no, that’d be pretty gross. Carrying around a chocolate bar in your back pocket is never a good idea. Especially when it’s a giant one with mini bars inside of it. This thing is sort of chocolate bar-ception.
Aldi carries a couple different types of these that we’ll be working through, but my favorite (out of health-consciousness) is the 85% dark bar. They don’t cost you a lot of money, either.
These run at about $1.99 in my Minnesota Aldi and are probably similarly priced wherever you’re at. A few months ago, I stumbled across a health and wellness blog espousing the benefits of dark chocolate. Since then, I’ve tried to incorporate at least the 70% version into my diet. That’s only if 85% is out at my Aldi. So here we go: the Moser Roth 85% Dark Chocolate bar review.
Each pack contains 5 mini bars and each of them has 160 calories in it. Most of that will be coming from fat, there’s actually kind of a lot of saturated in there, too. I was a little surprised to see that there’s a decent bit of fiber in them, too. Apparently people don’t eat enough fiber so this is one of those things that could maybe help with that.
There’s a really small amount of sugar, tiny bit of protein and a whole lotta iron. You almost need to be careful since it’s easy to eat a second one of these but you could easily go over on your daily amount with 5mg per bar.
Moser Roth 85% Dark Ingredients
These ingredients include semi-sweet chocolate and regular chocolate I guess? There’s also some soy lecithin, alkali and vanilla powder in the Moser Roth 85% Dark bars. It might also contain milk, hazelnuts, peanuts, coconut and other tree nuts. Moral of the story: be careful if you have a nut allergy.
As far as I’m concerned, I couldn’t taste much in the way of coconut or peanuts, but who knows.

The Moser Roth 85% Dark Chocolate Review
They kind of taste like wax. Okay, that’s a little too aggressive to start off with. First, ALL really dark chocolate tastes like wax. That may or may not be your thing. Personally, I love this type of snack now. It’s definitely an acquired taste and you might think it’s too bitter the first time.
I felt the extra iron from these Moser Roth 85% Dark bars pretty soon after eating two at once. For some reason, that helped me in the gym to lift more weight. Not sure how that works, but yea. The bars do taste good, whether you’re enjoying them for health reasons or just to enjoy some dark chocolate. The only thing that I forgot was the glass of red wine.
