On this week’s Midnight Snack, I can’t believe we didn’t do this one first.
Question: What’s the easiest way to get the fire department called and need to evacuate your entire dorm or campus apartment into the cold 2 AM parking lot?
Answer: Not reading the cooking instructions for your Kraft macaroni and cheese, that’s how.
Otherwise known by the millions who frequently consume it as “easy mac,” (and apparently existing as a product actually called Easy Mac here) this tasty and potentially fire hazardous meal is the epitome of Midnight Snack’s for college students. It’s cheap, easy and can stay good for a reaaaally long time in the pantry.
I picked an individual one up at my local Target store’s grocery section and could have even bought it online.
It looks mildly appetizing in the once-over.
When it came time to open it up for cooking, I found a cheese packet tucked inside the container.
I may have over-poured the water a little by mistake:
I’m mainly saying that since the cheese started to blow itself all over the sides of the container in our microwave. Yea our microwave’s pretty gross at this point.
As mentioned, I needed to pull the Easy Mac off the microwave plate since it cheesed everywhere. Not the end of the world, but it was surprisingly tough to wipe off. Probably took 3 paper towels.
I didn’t want to get cheese all over the counter, hence the paper towel being underneath it.
This is easy AND cheesy, which adds substantial value to any college student or person in general’s evening. The cheese powder was not bad at all. I’m happy to report that while a little bit runny, it was still tasty. Some of the noodles were a bit al dente, but it worked out. No cheese was spilled on myself or table, so I got that going for me, which is nice.
The only thing that could have made this better would have been if I had put in some additional hot sauce or maybe a protein like chicken or tuna.
