A Little History on Dupont Community Credit Union

This is another credit union out there that opened a little bit later than the typical ’30s CU. Started in 1959 under a different name, DCCU grew pretty fast, and by the end of that year they have $91,251 in assets already. Adjusted for inflation, that amount would be over $800,000 today.

Now, they have over $1.7 billion in assets. As far as cash accessibility goes, it looks like they only have ATMs in their own branches and aren’t part of the CO-OP network or anything.

Do They Give Back at All?

They do give back in a lot of ways at Dupont Community Credit Union. Over the years, they have supported organizations like the Boys & Girls Club, Homeless Shelters, American Cancer Society and others.

They provide free financial education classes, which a lot of credit unions out there do. There is also a scholarship program that gives out a few thousand annually.

Dupont Community Credit Union – Final Thoughts

Dupont is a really good-looking local Virginia credit union. The only thing that I didn’t like was that there aren’t too many ATMs available. Otherwise, they have great rates as far as the ones I looked at and they have very extensive product offerings. They also do a ton to give back to the community and that’s always awesome to see a credit union giving back.
