A Little History on West Community Credit Union

WCCU was started at the same time many others were in the United States, the 1930’s. A big difference with them, though, was that they were started by 15 businesses that joined together. Most CU’s originally started with one business or public works organization.

Today, they have over $333 million in assets. Since they’re part of the CO-OP ATM network, you can access your cash surcharge-free at over 30,000 ATMs nationwide, which is pretty neat!

Do they give back at all?

West Community Credit Union gives back a ton to the community. Frankly, it’s WAY more than the average CU that I’ve look at in Missouri. They donate money, their employees volunteer, and they teach financial literacy.

On their site, they list a lot of the organizations that they support. Those include Junior Achievement, the Children’s Miracle Network, the Prosperity Connection and many more.

Membership Requirements at West Community Credit Union

If you want to become a member at WCCU, then you’ll need to meet a few requirements about where you work or live. They aren’t that difficult to meet if you’re in the St. Louis area, which is great.

Living or working in St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Franklin County, Boone County, or St. Louis City gets you in. There are other ways, too, like if you’re involved at all with Mizzou, Stephens College, or Columbia College. Family can also qualify you for membership.

Check out their page on that for the rest of the ways you can qualify.

Their Products

There are a lot of financial products for you to choose from at West Community Credit Union. I see so many different offerings here that frankly, if I didn’t already know the asset size, I would assume this was a way bigger Missouri CU.

Personal products include checking, savings, CDs, IRAs, Kids Savings, Health Savings, and Money Market accounts. Then there are car loans, debt consolidation products, home loans, home equity loans, mortgages, refinancing, personal loans, student loans, and credit cards at West Community Credit Union.

If you’re in the market for a home loan, they’ve got that covered for you, too. There are home loans, refinancing, and home equity loans at West Community Credit Union.

Lastly, if you own a business, there are the usual business products here, like checking accounts, deposits, money markets, CDs, business lending, commercial real estate lending, debit cards, credit cards, card processing and investments.

WCCU has a few business checking options, too. They have their Free Business Checking, Business Interest Checking, and High-Yield Business Interest Checking. Additionally, there are business Health Savings Accounts, Accounting Services, and A/R financing.

West Community Credit Union – Final Thoughts

WCCU is one of the better credit unions that I’ve looked at in Missouri. In addition to all of their financial product offerings for business and personal use, there are also a ton of different services offered here like Zelle, Digital Wallet, Skip-A-Pay.

Their website is very up-to-date with modern accessibility features like flash reduction options for people with epilepsy. The team at West Community Credit Union also gives back to the community in a ton of different ways as I mentioned earlier.

Do you have a review of your own experience working with WCCU? Leave it below! We just need your email address in case they ask for it in order to reach out to you and resolve any issues.
