A Little History on First Missouri Credit Union

FMCU has “first” in their title for a reason – they were the first credit union to be chartered in the state in 1927. Based on their NCUA profile, they also have nearly $100 million in assets today. You can access your cash from First Missouri Credit Union at over 30,000 ATMs nationwide since they are involved in the CO-OP network.

Do They Give Back At All?

They do give back, yes. Besides their Founders’ Grant fund, they have also supported charities like Meals on Wheels, Aging Ahead, the Salvation Army and more organizations. I really like to see it when a CU gives back, especially since it doesn’t seem like all of the small to mid-size ones in Missouri necessarily do that.

Member Eligibility

Their eligibility requirements are pretty straightforward, it just depends on where you live or work. If you’re in Jefferson County or St. Louis County of Missouri, then you’re in. Also, your family members can join. I imagine if you have a family member that belongs, then they can get you in, too.

Products at First Missouri Credit Union

FMCU offers many of the usual personal products that you would find at a bank or bigger credit union. They do not offer any business products at this time, so, you’ll need to look somewhere else for those types of things.

You can choose from checking, savings, IRA, and investment services. As far as loans go, they offer vehicle, home, personal and credit cards.

I was hoping I’d see health savings accounts, but, it doesn’t look like they offer those at this time. There are a variety of other savings accounts at First Missouri Credit Union which is great to see.

First Missouri Credit Union – Final Thoughts

FMCU is a good looking, tight-knit credit union in Missouri that you should definitely look at if you fall within their field of eligibility. Business owners should look to other CU’s in Missouri for things like financing and account products since those are not offered here. Besides their historical significance, they also do a lot to give back to the community and have most of the personal products that you might need.
