A Little History on Alliance Credit Union
ACU was started in mid-1948 for employees of Emerson Electric Company. The non-profit financial institution now serves a handful of communities in the greater St. Louis area today.
They are part of the CO-OP ATM network, so, there are over 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs that you can find nationwide to access your ACU cash. Their asset size today is nearly $400 million dollars according to the NCUA database, too.
Do They Give Back At All?
Alliance Credit Union has a scholarship program that awards a few thousand dollars per year to students. Otherwise, I couldn’t find any other charitable causes or anything that they are involved with.
Membership Requirements
In order to join Alliance Credit Union, you’ll need to meet some requirements. These can range from where you live to where you’ve worked or retired from. Family can also get you in there.
If you live or work in St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Jefferson County, Franklin County or St. Louis City, you’re in. Residents of Illinois who live in St. Clair County, Madison County, Monroe County, or Jersey County are in, too.
There are a lot of family member eligibility and past employer connections that can get you in. Frankly, there’s too many to list, so, check those out here on their site.
Their Products at Alliance Credit Union
You can find checking, savings, loans, credit cards, and various extras like online bill pay here. ACU also offers a pretty extensive suite of business products like savings/checking, loans, fleet financing, debit/credit cards, payment processing and covid-19 resources.
Not every CU around Missouri offers business services, so, that’s good that you can get some here if you run a small business.
Personal Savings and Checking Products
Their savings account offerings have a lot of variety. You can choose their Basic Savings Accounts, Youth Savings Accounts, Vacation Club Savings Account, Holiday Club Savings Account, or Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs).
It doesn’t look like they offer Health Savings accounts, so, look elsewhere for one of those.
There are three main personal checking account products at Alliance Credit Union. They have the basic Free Checking Account, Best Interest Checking Account, and the CU Succeed Teen Checking Account.
Business Products at Alliance Credit Union
Two main business checking accounts are offered. There’s Free Business Checking and Business Interest Checking. The free one looks pretty good, no minimum balance, no monthly account fee, free Visa debit card and only $5 to open the account.
That’s better than the credit union we work with.
You can get a loan for your business for things like commercial property or fleet financing if you need to pay for trucks, vans, or cars.
Other Products
You can get set up with home loans at Alliance Credit Union, home equity loans, new or used car loans, and student loans.

Alliance Credit Union – Final Thoughts
Alliance is a great looking credit union to put your money in. They have offerings to meet the needs of individuals across a wide age range, whether for personal needs or business. ACU does get involved with some charity work, however, not as much as a lot of other credit unions from what it looks like.
Do you have a review of working with them that you would like to contribute? Please add it below. We do need your email address in case ACU wants to contact you to resolve any issues.
