Less Naked Pea Protein Powder Review

Less Naked Pea Protein powder is on the table tonight for our review. Actually, it’s in my shaker bottle. Lately, I decided to try and go dairy and gluten-free with my protein shakes.

In addition to that, I’ve been reading that TB12 book where he mentions pea protein shakes as one of his secret weapons. If it can help me get better for pickup hockey, I’m in.

It was also news to me that peas were a decent source of protein, but the more I know, I guess. As long as it gets me the protein in a healthier way that helps me stay fit.

The Company Behind Naked Pea Protein Powder

The company that makes Less Naked Pea Protein powder doesn’t have much on their website in terms of an “about us” section. It’s largely a quick blip that says they keep things natural and straightforward.

Their products range from grass-fed whey protein to pea protein powder and many other supplements in-between.

After doing a little more digging, I found this article that gets more into the actual history of the company and its founder, Stephen Zieminski. He has some serious educational background, with experience going to law school and also investment banking.

After bootstrapping the brand himself, Zieminski now runs it from wherever he wants. A lot of their products (the powders at least) are see-through and have a very basic minimalist design to them.

I like that.

A lot of the nutrition industry has been trying to make a bigger push toward having more natural products lately with all the scrutiny around unhealthy fillers and additives. I definitely went through four or five tubs of this really cheap stuff that I won’t name toward the end of college.

It didn’t kill me or anything, but, it’s hard to say if I did any long-term damage or not. It very well could have! The good news is, now I can try to be cleaner with this less naked pea protein.

The Less Naked Pea Protein Nutrition Facts

The first nice thing about this less naked pea protein is the number of servings. It comes with the usual amount of servings that you’ll find in a typical tub of protein powder.

Another thing that might or might not be considered “good” (although I like it) is that it has 140 calories. Personally, I prefer more calorie-dense protein powder over something that’s around 110 or 120 calories like most of the ones I’ve had in the past.

Another great thing about this is that it has a solid 25 grams of protein and not much else in there. Keeping it simple.

The Ingredients

When they listed the three main ingredients on the front of this less naked pea protein, they weren’t messing around. Seriously, this only has three ingredients: pea protein, vanilla, and coconut sugar. That’s it.

They squeezed them in below the nutrition facts (pictured above) because they don’t take up much space. It’s tough to say that about most of the stuff we’ve reviewed here! They get more specific about what’s in their powder below and encourage you to…wait for it…get naked.

The Less Naked Pea Protein Review

This Less Naked Pea Protein is about as straightforward as they come. One major thing I noticed right away about this was that it was really thick.

It took a lot of shaking to get this to completely liquify. Most of the shakes that I drink (from this powder) don’t end up fully mixed into the water. A lot of the time, I’ll go back after I’m done drinking it to fill my shaker a little more and get the rest un-stuck from the bottom.

When it comes to taste, I thought it was fine. My expectations were that I would be drinking something that wasn’t very sweet since this gets created by a vegetable vs. dairy product. To that point, I was pleasantly surprised that it was a little sweeter than I thought.

This does become really really dense even with 8-10 oz’s of water as they recommend on the less naked pea protein label. Some people also report that it tastes like drinking sediment and they complain a lot.

For how healthy this is, though, I say that those folks who complain can go buy the birthday cake flavored protein shakes with the extra bad fillers and flavorings. I choose to live longer.
