Meatloaf Recipe That You Can Make Tonight

Meatloaf recipes can vary a lot. Some call for a lot of different ingredients and prep when others keep it simple. This is one of the simple ones. You can have this thrown together before the oven’s even preheated and everything will be ready in under an hour.

It’s great if you want to change things up from having chicken or pork for dinner. Everybody needs a little variety, right?

Let’s take a look at what you’ll need for this meatloaf recipe.

Step 1 of the Meatloaf Recipe

Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (180c). Some recipes tend to skip over the part about preheating your oven, but it’s so fast to put all this stuff together that you should just go ahead with doing that at the beginning.

Step 2

For step 2, start by cracking the two eggs into a medium sized bowl.

Next, grab your soy sauce

Get your tablespoon measuring spoon, too. You’ll need that for this part of the meatloaf recipe.

Measure out two tablespoons of soy sauce and dump those in with the eggs. Grab your whisk and mix the egg and soy sauce together really well like in the picture below. This part is optional, but if you plan to use the stuffing or breadcrumbs, now is also the part to put in half a cup of water with the other liquids.

In addition to that, chop up that small onion and throw it into the mix with the soy and egg.

For step 3, grab your 1 LB of 85% fat ground beef and throw all of that into the bowl. I hope you’re good at turning on the sink with your wrists, because this is where the meatloaf recipe gets kind of messy.

Unless you mix everything with spoons or those things people use to smash avocados for guacamole.

Dumping The Meat

Put your meat in the big bowl. Then, pour your mixture from the other bowl in there like this:

I’ll be honest, I completely forgot to add the onion in this meatloaf recipe because I was in a hurry to get this done. That’s why there’s none in there (whether you noticed that or not). Once you pour everything into the meat mixture, sort of kneed the meat around until all the liquids are absorbed and it looks like the picture below.

The next step is sort of optional.

cup of bread crumbs and ground beef mixture

Measure out 1 cup of either stuffing or breadcrumbs if you plan on putting those into the mix. Dump that into the meat and mix everything around, either by hand or with spoons if you prefer.

Step 5 of the meatloaf recipe

Once the meat and everything is mixed around, start filling up your loaf pan with the meat.

Make sure it’s as even as possible like in the picture below:

The pan should not be greased, either. Put the pan (uncovered) on the center rack of the oven for 45-55 minutes until the center of the meatloaf is browned. It should be 160 degrees F or hotter to be safe to eat.

Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving it up. I hope this meatloaf recipe tastes as good for you as it did for us!

Notecard Version

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
Mix eggs, chopped up onion and soy sauce in medium bowl. If you plan to add the stuffing to this meatloaf recipe, then add in 1/2 cup of water.
In a bigger bowl, mix the meat and the mixture from the medium bowl together well enough so most of the liquid gets absorbed.
If you want to add the stuffing or bread crumbs, measure out 1 cup of whichever of those you plan to add. Dump that into the meat mixture.
Work all the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Once everything’s together, put it into the loaf pan and spread the meat out evenly.
Put it in the oven for 45-55 minutes, or until it’s 160 degrees F. Let it cool, cut it up, and serve.
