Unison shares a similar history to other CU’s that you might hear or read about. They were started in 1932 and called the Thilmany Credit Union, mainly due to the fact that they served employees of the Thilmany Mill back then.
They were originally opened because of how low everyone’s confidence in our financial systems was at that time during the Great Depression.
After steady growth over the years, their name was changed to Unison Credit Union in 2002. Today, you can keep money at their six locations. That is, however, if you fit into their field of membership.
Membership Requirements
If you want to become a member at this Wisconsin Credit Union, you’ll need to meet a couple requirements. If you live or work in the following places in Wisconsin, then you can qualify for membership:
Outagamie, Brown, Calumet, Manitowoc counties; or the City or Town of Neenah, City of Menasha or Village of Fox Crossing in Winnebago County.
You’ll also need $5 to open your account, your social security number, and proof of identification. Adults must accompany any kids younger than 16.
Products at Unison Credit Union
For being a slightly smaller credit union, they do have a wide variety of products. You can choose from personal offerings like checking, savings, and investment. Then, they have business products like checking, savings, lending, and card payment processing, which you might find useful.
Are you in the market for anything that needs a loan? If you are, then they can probably help with it. They have loans for auto, boats, motorcycles, ATV’s, RV’s, and Student Loans. You can also get their products called U Choose and QuickLend.
U Choose from Unison Credit Union is their personal loan with some unique branding attached to it. Their terms for it are that you don’t need collateral, you can borrow up to $30,000, Rates are (at the time of this writing) as low as 3.99% APR (subject to change), you get guidance from member advisors, and it’s an easy online application.
Mortgages, too.
If you need a mortgage, then Unison Credit Union has those as well. They include Fixed Rate Mortgages, Adjustable Rate Mortgages, Home Equity Loans, Home Equity Line of Credit, Construction and Land Loans.
Unison is proud to support the community in Northeast Wisconsin. They don’t go into a ton of detail about the different organizations they support, however, they do have a big picture dropping a check off for a police station in the community.
Unison Credit Union – Tying It All Together
Unison Credit Union is a solid looking community credit union to consider if you’re in their field of membership. They offer everything that a big CU would offer with a smaller and tighter-knit feel. Plus, they give back, which is good.
Have your own review on them? Let us know here and we’ll add it!
