A Little History on Together Credit Union

Many non-profit financial institutions like this one were started in the 30’s, and TCU is no exception. They were started by their members in 1939. TCU’s site doesn’t give much history besides that, however, they do tout that in 2020 alone, they were able to provide over $26 million in benefits to their members.

They have 27 branches, 5,600 shared branches, and 25,000+ surcharge-free ATMs through their involvement in the CO-OP network. There are also over $2 billion in assets at Together Credit Union.

Do They Give Back?

TCU is involved with a few different initiatives working toward financially empowering residents in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. They focus on helping young children and parents, middle school youth, people in their first jobs and other young adults.

Their Products at Together Credit Union

TCU offers the products that you would expect to find at a credit union – savings, checking, HSAs, CDs, youth/teen accounts, IRAs, and a type of account unique to them called “Earn and Learn Savings.”

The Earn and Learn accounts at Together Credit Union pay 3.00 APY* on average daily balances between $5-$1000. It doesn’t seem like there’s much actual financial education involved with opening this account specifically. They do, however, have a lot of resources for that type of thing on their site right here, so, you can get educated either way.

Mortgages and Loans

There are a couple mortgage refinancing products you can choose from, too. Those include mortgage refinancing, HomeAdvantage, and Home Equity Loans.

Loan products include auto, personal loans, Visa credit cards, savings secured loans, mortgages & home equity loans, student loans, motorcycle, boat, and RV loans. There’s also a disaster recovery program at Together Credit Union.

The disaster recovery program is somewhat unique, I don’t see that at every CU that I look at. It includes a disaster recovery loan and some loan relief options.

Business Banking + Insurance Options at Together Credit Union

If you run a business, then you’ll be able to find plenty of products for it. Those include business Visa cards, checking accounts, savings, investing, working capital, equipment financing, commercial real estate loans, and coronavirus business support.

Together Credit Union also has a dedicated business team to help you out if needed.

In addition to that team, they also have a financial Advisory Team you can use. They can help with life insurance, whole life insurance, brokerage services, long term care insurance, and trust services.

Together Credit Union – Final Thoughts

This credit union really seems to bring people….together. Yes, you read that right. The pun was intended. Together Credit Union is a solid looking not-for-profit financial institution with a lot of members and steadily growing assets. My only small critique is that someone in their marketing team took some liberties with calling that one account “Earn and Learn” since it doesn’t actually come with learning resources, they just direct you to their general financial resources page. That’s pretty small, though. Everything else looks great.
