A Little History on First Community Credit Union
There isn’t a ton of specific history on this Missouri CU. They do mention being in business for over 85 years, so, that must mean that they were started some time in the later 1930’s. That’s pretty normal among other credit unions.
Today, they’ve got over $3 billion in assets with nearly 350,000 members, according to their website. They’re part of the CO-OP network of ATMs, meaning you have access to your money at over 30,000 ATMs surcharge-free.
Do They Give Back?
First Community Credit Union in Missouri does give back to the community in a number of ways. A few of the organizations that they financially support are Ronald McDonald House Charities, Susan G Komen, and Autism Speaks.
They have a donation request form here.
Membership Requirements
If you want to become a member here, then you will need to meet some requirements. According to their website, all eligible businesses, government entities, individuals (including persons in their household) and the immediate family of all eligible individuals, who reside or work in the Missouri counties of St. Louis, St. Louis City, St. Charles, Jefferson, Warren and Franklin and the Illinois counties of Madison, Monroe and St. Clair are eligible.
There are also other ways you can get in, so don’t worry if one of those doesn’t meet the qualifications right away. If you have immediate family that qualifies for membership, then you can join. Even if your family isn’t an employee there anymore but retired at some point, that will qualify you to join First Community Credit Union.
Their definition of immediate family is pretty wide, you can out more of it here.
Their Product Offerings
You have a lot of options as far as products go here, which I kind of expected since they are a bigger CU. There’s four different checking accounts:
- First Rate Checking
- Cashback Checking
- Checking 1
- College Cashback Checking
They have a handful of different savings accounts, so, whatever stage of life you’re at or planning for, there should be something. Those are:
- Share Savings Accounts
- Youth Savings Accounts
- Club Account
- Money Market Account
- Certificates of Deposit
- Individual Retirement Accounts
- Coverdell Education Savings Account (ESA)
- Health Savings Account (HSA)
Business Products at First Community Credit Union
If you own a business, then you’ll be able to find a lot of different business products here. Those include checking, checking plus, and business analysis checking. The business analysis checking looks pretty unique and useful since it automates reporting and gives you other good benefits like unlimited ACH transactions.
You can open a savings account for your business, get business CDs, and a business money market account, too. There are some business services if you need those, like online banking, business bill pay, e-statements, merchant card services, and others.
Business credit cards and loans are also available if you need to make bigger purchases but don’t have the cash on-hand. Their business loans include SBA Loans, Commercial Real Estate Loans, Business Lines of Credit, Equipment Loans, and Business Term Loans.
Personal Loan Products
As far as personal loan products go at First Community Credit Union, they offer the usual that you would find at a bank or other large CU. Those include auto loans, boat, RV & motorcycle loans, home loans, home equity loans, land loans, personal term loans, credit cards and something called Skip-A-Pay loans.
Their Skip-A-Pay program allows you to defer a monthly loan payment if you have an eligible loan. Some ineligible loans include business, real estate, Fresh Start loans, and credit card payments. Eligible loans include vehicle loans and unsecured personal loans.
